Am I a Candidate for Invisalign ®?
Ideal candidates for Invisalign® invisible braces are adults and teens who want to correct gaps, overcrowded teeth, and minor bite problems. Children under the age of 12 are not considered candidates for Invisalign® because their mouths are still growing. If you have serious bite problems or very wide gaps between teeth, Invisalign® may not be the right solution for you. Because smoking will stain the clear plastic used to make the retainers, smokers are advised to quit before pursuing treatment with Invisalign®.
Invisalign® Treatment
Treatment with Invisalign® typically is a year-long process. Based on mouth X-rays and impressions made of your teeth, a set of Invisalign© aligners will be custom created for you. The total number of retainers you will need to wear can range from 18 to 30 and will depend on your unique needs and goals. You will wear the first aligner for approximately two weeks before graduating to the next one in the series. For treatment to work as planned, you must wear your aligners at all times. The only times you should remove your retainers are when you are eating, brushing, or flossing.
